This policy is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everything you make, upload or publish with StrokeTale. Our AI providers' rules apply too, including the Microsoft AI Code of Conduct and Anthropic's and OpenAI's usage policies. This policy includes the parts that matter for you.
1. Never use StrokeTale to make or share
- Sexual content, nudity, or sexualised content of anyone. Any content that sexualises minors is reported to the authorities.
- Content that harasses, threatens, bullies or defames a person, or attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
- Content that promotes violence, terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm or suicide, or gives instructions for weapons that can cause mass harm.
- Scams, phishing, malware, or anything that asks people for passwords, codes, gift cards or payments under false pretences.
- False or misleading content about health, safety, elections or civic processes.
- Content that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.
- Other people's personal information without a lawful basis. This includes students' records unless your school has authorised it.
- Anything illegal where you or your viewers are.
2. Advertising and claims
If you use StrokeTale videos in ads or marketing:
- You are the advertiser. You must be able to back up every factual claim, for example with tests, data or sources.
- No fake reviews or testimonials. Don't make a video in which anyone (a presenter, a voice or a caption) appears to be a customer or user sharing their experience, unless it is a real person's real, unedited words, shared with their permission.
- No guaranteed results. No promised income, investment returns, weight loss or cures.
- Disclose sponsorships and paid relationships clearly in the video and the post.
- Follow the ad rules of the platform you use, and the law where your ad runs.
- No ads aimed at children, and no ads that exploit people's age, disability or financial situation.
3. AI presenters
3.1 All presenters (drawn, painted and realistic)
Never use a presenter to:
- Pretend to be a real person. This covers living or dead people, famous or not: you, your boss, a teacher, a customer or a celebrity. Don't name a presenter after a real person or caption it as one. Don't script lines like "I'm [real name]".
- Speak for an organisation without permission. Don't claim to be a company, school, hospital, bank, news outlet or government body unless you are authorised to speak for it. Speaking for your own business is fine.
- Give testimonials or personal experience. No "I used this and...", "as a customer...", or before-and-after stories.
- Pose as an expert. No "as a doctor / nurse / lawyer / financial adviser / pharmacist...". A presenter may explain a topic, but may not claim a profession or credentials.
- Deliver political content. This covers candidates, parties, elections, voting, ballot measures, social-issue advocacy and lobbying, and messages from or about government officials or agencies. Neutral classroom civics is allowed, but never with a presenter speaking as an official.
- Deceive. Don't make anyone believe they are watching a real person or real events, or that a statement was really made by someone.
- Target or depict children in ads, or address children to collect data or sell to them.
3.2 Labels and provenance
- Don't remove, cover, crop, blur or edit the "AI-generated presenter" or "AI presenter" label.
- Don't remove or change the Content Credentials or metadata that show a video was made with AI. Don't use tools that do this.
- When you post a video with a realistic presenter, turn on the platform's AI label.
3.3 Extra rules for realistic presenters (Microsoft stock avatars)
Realistic presenters are based on licensed stock avatars. Some of them are real actors. To respect their licences, you may not use realistic presenters in videos about or for:
- adult or dating services;
- alcohol, tobacco, vaping or cannabis;
- gambling, betting or lotteries;
- weapons or ammunition;
- prescription drugs, supplements or medical treatments (general health education is allowed, with no product claims);
- loans, credit repair, crypto-assets, trading or investment products (general financial education is allowed);
- religious or political persuasion;
- content that is degrading, mocking or humiliating toward the presenter.
We may update this list when our provider's terms change.
3.4 What we check
- Before any presenter speaks, StrokeTale checks the script. It may block a script or ask you to change it. Don't try to get around the check, for example by splitting a claim across scenes or putting it only in captions.
- Repeated attempts to get around it can lead to account suspension.
4. Your photos
You can add your own photos (people, products, places, nature) and use them as they are, redrawn in a video's style, or as a reference for new AI pictures.
- Only upload photos you own or have permission to use. That includes the photographer's rights and any logos or artwork in them that you don't own.
- People in your photos must have agreed. Before you add a photo of a person you confirm that they consented to this use.
- No public figures. Don't add photos of politicians, celebrities, influencers or other public figures, even with permission.
- Children only with care. Add a photo of a child only if you are their parent or guardian and the video is not commercial. We never use a child's photo to make new AI scenes.
- No impersonation. Don't use a photo to make it look as if a person said, did or endorsed something they didn't. Photos of people are never turned into talking presenters or avatars in this feature.
- No deceptive ads. Don't use a restyled or AI-made picture of a product to show something the product doesn't do or look like, or present an AI picture as a real customer, result or event.
- Never upload sexual or nude images, images of violence, gore or self-harm, hateful symbols, or anything that sexualises or endangers a child. We check every upload and may report illegal content to the authorities.
- Labels. Pictures made from your photos by AI carry an "AI-generated image" label in the video. Don't remove or cover it.
5. Use of the Service itself
- Don't attack, overload, scrape or reverse engineer StrokeTale, or test its safety checks without our written permission.
- Don't create accounts in bulk, share accounts, or use stolen payment methods.
- Don't use StrokeTale or its outputs to train or improve another AI model.
6. What happens if you break this policy
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- block the request;
- remove the video or its share link;
- remove access to presenters;
- suspend or close your account (without a refund of credits where the terms allow);
- report illegal content to the authorities.
We will tell you why where we can, and you can appeal by replying to our notice or writing to support@stroketale.com.
7. Report misuse
Use "Report" in the app or on a share page, or email support@stroketale.com.
- If a video made with StrokeTale has been posted on another platform, report it there too. We can confirm whether we made it but cannot remove it from other sites.
- If you think a presenter looks like you, write to us and we will review it within 72 hours.
