StrokeTale uses AI to help you make explainer videos. This page explains where AI is used, how we label it, and what you should do when you publish.
1. Where AI is used
| Part of the video | What makes it | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Script, scene plan, edits you ask for in chat, hooks, captions and translations | A large language model | Anthropic (Claude) |
| Pictures and painted presenters | An image model | OpenAI or Microsoft Azure OpenAI |
| Narration voices | Text-to-speech voices from a fixed catalog | Microsoft Azure AI Speech |
| Realistic presenters | Text-to-speech avatar video of licensed stock avatars | Microsoft Azure AI Speech |
| Drawing animation, hands, drawn presenters, lip sync of drawn and painted presenters, layout | Our own software (not AI) | StrokeTale |
We do not train AI models on your content, and our providers do not use it to train theirs under our agreements with them. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
AI makes mistakes. Read your script and watch your video before you publish.
2. Presenters
- Drawn presenters are fictional cartoon characters drawn by our software.
- Painted presenters are fictional people painted by an AI image model from written descriptions. They are not based on photos of real people. We check each one so it does not look like a real person (how).
- Realistic presenters are AI-generated video of stock avatars licensed by Microsoft. Some are based on real actors who licensed their likeness to Microsoft. They are not your staff, your customers or the actors speaking for themselves.
- Voices are synthetic voices from a fixed catalog. We do not offer voice cloning.
- You can't upload your own face, photo or voice to make a presenter.
3. Labels and provenance
- On screen.
- Videos with a realistic presenter always show "AI-generated presenter". It can't be turned off.
- Painted presenters show "AI presenter" by default.
- Drawn presenters can show it if you choose.
- In the file. Exported MP4s with a presenter carry a metadata note: "AI-generated: synthetic presenter, synthetic voice (StrokeTale)".
- Coming soon: Content Credentials (the C2PA standard), signed by StrokeTale, saying the video was made with AI and which tools were used. Some platforms read them and add their own AI label automatically. They will contain no personal data, prompts or script.
- Our records. Coming soon: a record of each export (an id, the presenter and voice used, and a fingerprint of the script), so we can confirm whether a video was made with StrokeTale even if the file's metadata is removed. To ask about a video today, email support@stroketale.com.
- Microsoft's marks. Microsoft also marks avatar video with its own invisible watermark.
4. When you publish
- Turn on the platform's AI label for videos with realistic presenters: YouTube "Altered or synthetic content", TikTok "AI-generated content", Instagram and Facebook "AI info". StrokeTale reminds you when you export.
- Some laws require you to say when an ad uses an AI-generated person, for example in New York and under the EU AI Act. Keep the on-screen label, and add your own disclosure where the law asks for more.
- Don't use presenters for testimonials, expert claims, political messages or to impersonate anyone. See the presenter rules.
5. How we check presenters
- Every painted presenter is reviewed before release by two people. They use reverse image search, a celebrity-recognition check and a human panel, to make sure it does not look like a real person. We keep a record of each presenter's prompts and review.
- If you think a presenter looks like you, email support@stroketale.com. We will stop offering it for new videos within 72 hours while we review.
6. Safety checks
- Before a presenter or voice speaks, we check the script for impersonation, fake testimonials, misleading health or money claims, political content and other misuse. Some scripts are blocked or need changes.
- You can report any video with "Report" in the app or on its share page.
